Abstract:
TiO2 nano pigments in pure crystallographic forms (anatase) have been synthesized successfully by a hydrolysis method. The produced pigments from the hydrolysis method were investigated physicochemically by several analyses tools, then they were applied in paper coating mixtures and their influence on coated paper properties was systematically investigated. XRD investigation showed that the prepared pigments using hydrolysis of TiCl4 produced pure anatase phase pigment. TEM investigation showed that the crystallite size of anatase is 50 nm. The prepared nano pigments of the TiO2 phase could be applied in jobing offset ink and commercial paper sheets. Both optical and physical properties of the treatment before and after application were tracked and measured. Although titanium oxide is used as a white dye, it provided good results on the black ink that is used in dyeing, whether ordinary titanium dioxide or titanium dioxide in the range of nano was used in small quantities, and titanium oxide nanoparticles gave better results because of the increase in the surface area and optical and electromagnetic properties obtained when converting it to the range of nanoparticles.
