Abstract:
Copper chromite nanoparticles (CCNs) were synthesized by hydrothermal process and their characterization by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), elemental mapping (EDAX) and transmission electron microscope (TEM). The particles are spherical in shape and were produced in a nanoscale with a range from to 50 nm to 100 nm. Its catalytic activity was investigated through the thermal decomposition of ammonium perchlorate (AP) using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA). The kinetics of the thermal decomposition of AP + CCNs has also been investigated using Kissinger and KAS method, which have been applied to the data of the isothermal TG decomposition. The addition of the CCNs to AP led to a shifting of the high temperature decomposition peak toward lower temperature that improve the rate of the decomposition reaction of ammonium perchlorate with increasing the heat released
